It's been busy! This weekend consisted of Circle, the Feast of Mary Magdalene Party, we went to see Indiana Jones, and I had to work most of Monday. Circle was good, we pigged out at the party (Renee's deserts were awesome), Indiana Jones was better than I expected, and work was work! I just bought the new Anita Blake book - Blood Noir by Laurell K. Hamilton. It is supposed to deal with the Mother of All Vampires which sounds like a great read! Unfortunately I have to read for my PhD before I can read it. My next book is Talks On Agni by Torkom Saraydarian. I have to present this book to Circle for my PhD, so some day where we're enot too busy, I'll have a presentation on it (after I'm done reading it, of course). I'm not going to get to go to Sancta Sophia for the June classes. Between starting my new job, getting plane tickets for Allan & Colin, and Allan flying home the day I'm supposed to leave, it just didn't seem like it would work. I started my new job. It is pretty good except that I am not up-to-speed yet and it's really hard for me not to know everything I'm doing! I know it will come, but I will be uncomfortable until it does. Here are a couple of pictures of my office - I went in early Saturday and hung pictures, etc. I'm sort of pumped about my character for LARP. He's a Malkavian (crazy vamp). What I'm pumped about is that I am following the Path of Lilith. The Lilith mythos in the LARP isn't completely in line with Sophian teaching (it is a game), but they did a pretty good job of following some of the Kabbalistic ideas about her. I was at an art sore with Adam & Jay on Sunday and picked up an art set and sketch book. I'm doing all kinds of drawings of Lilith - some will be purposely not bad and some will be really awful (remember he's nuts). So, I'm having fun with it. I've got to get caught up on some stuff... I have a ton of school work to do... I need to do some research for work (and probably more work this weekend)... I have reading for pleasure with books piled about a foot high.... And Adam & Colin leave for Ohio on Friday!

Well... i got 2 offers for employment in Austin. This is a good thing because Dell is looking to sell DFS. On top of that, because of so many people leaving, they did a reorg and most of us wouldn't be people managers any more. Wouldn't have lost my grade, but my team was down from 8 to 2. My first offer was from dell. It was in the Global Information Services group. I wouldn't have retained level, but still wouldn't have been a people manager. The job is in the Data Quality group so I would have been doing projects with data quality. Good job - no change in benefits, pay, level, etc. But some of the same stuff as with DFS. The thing that really didn't make me happy was that they have 6 AM IM meetings every morning. With my headaches, 6 AM meetings would not be a good thing. I also am a bit tired of some of the issues we've had at DFS and I'm afraid they would have continued to DELL. I was ready to take this position though. My second offer was from a company called Engauge. Engauge Direct is a database marketing firm here in Austin. Engauge also have offices in Columbus, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and somewhere in Florida. The original position was an analyst/possible manager and quite a pay cut from my current position. It was really cool work, but I couldn't afford the demotion and pay cut. Well.. they surprised me. They decided that they wanted me so much that they upped the position to Director of Analytics reporting directly to the president. There is an initial slight pay cut (but minor). The work is awesome!!! and the people were so cool. When I accepted the offer, the HR director was almost giddy because she was so happy I was coming. So... I believe I made the right decison. I will be in The Domain (upscale mall off Loop 1). It's much closer to my house then I was because I just go down mopac and get off 2 exits further and I'm right there (instead of going all the way across Parmer). I start 5/19 and am very excited!!! On another note, I've cut Circle back to 2 x a month. It was a hard decision. I've never had circle less than weekly, but attendance is so sporadic that it just didn't make sense to keep it going as is. There is so much going on for everyone (including me) that if attendance is not here, I can't afford the time. So... this way the meetings will be concentrated and hopefully more people can make it consistantly to the 2 instead of spread across 4. On a very up note... Renee has decided to do a Study Group in Dallas. This made the 2 x a week much more palatable for me. It's good to see a student reaching toward their potential and it is a great opportunity for Dallas to have regular meetings in the Sophian Tradition. Hopefully Buffy will be able to get the Ohio group back up and running too! I think I've found a music genre I like! I have been really bummed because I've really had a hard time finding modern music I like. Music was a huge part of my life in High School, college, etc, but I keep going back to the old music I used to listen to. There have been a few groups I've liked (Evanesence, Garbage, etc), but for the most part I haven't found a type of music I like. I love good lyrics, good vocals, but harder music. The problem with this is that I seem to find one or the other. Good lyrics and vocals, but boring music or great music, and the vocals are screaming. Well... I was looking around on the internet late last night and found a genre called Symphonic Metal. Evanesence is considered part of this and I like them. I found a whole list of groups that fit into this genre. I don't like all of them (some are too hard - Symphonic Black Metal and Symphonic Death Metal and some are too much like the soundtrack to a musical), but I found a few groups I really like. SO far my favorite is a dutch band called Within Temptation. They have a recent LP called The Heart of Everything. I really like it. Of course, Adam and Colin are making fun of it, but... I really like it. I turned my blackberry in at work (since I'm leaving). I tried to go back to my Razor, but the battery was shot and I really didn't like it anyway. So... I turned it in and got a Navy Samsung Juke. It is really little. About as long as a razor, just a little thicker, but about 1/2 as wide. In addition to being a phone, it has a camera, a 2 GB MP3 player, and navigation service. I really like it so far. I've been dumping music onto it (about 1/2 is symphonic metal now ;-) ). So, if you were using my blackberry # before, you will need to go back to my original number 512-663-xxxx. Most people were still using this # as I had it forwarded to the blackberry. I bought Adam his birthday gift (5/8). I got him a PS3. It is also a Blueray player, so it will serve dual function. Colin got a new phone for his birthday (5/11). Colin's surgery is THis Wed. so I will be on vacation Wed & Thurs and maybe working from home Friday. Well.. that's about all the update I can think of... Everything else is pretty much the same. Oh... if any of you haven't been over lately... you'll have to see my fish tank when you come over next. I have a 54 gallon (almost cube tank) with 6 discuss (and a few other misc. fish). Current Mood: chipper

You are The MagicianSkill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity. Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing, you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive. The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil. What Tarot Card are You? Take the Test to Find Out.
